Geographic Information Services(GIS) Data Licensing
NEGRDC GIS Mapping Services 2000, maintains a comprehensive spatial data base of our 12 county region. Some of the data sets include:
- parcels
- roads
- land use
- lakes & rivers
- wetlands
- boundaries
- flood plains
- watersheds
- community facilities
This data is made available to local governments and others for mapping projects and GIS analysis. We offer Data Licensing Agreements to those interested in obtaining data from the RDC. This promotes a timely exchange of updated data between the RDC and licensee, thereby ensuring the availability of the most current information.
Data Updating
Data base updating is offered for tax parcels, zoning, community facilities, historic districts, voting and commissioner districts, school districts, and more. We can maintain and update these data sets for local governments and make them available for use in day-to-day operations. Our trained staff can provide assistance to governments on data exchange and data use. The cost for this service varies depending on the scope of the work.
Global Positioning System
GPS is a technology that utilizes a satellite network to pinpoint specific points on the earth. GPS can be used for high accuracy mapping of water and sewer lines, building footprints, historic sites, and much more. The RDC maintains the GPS equipment and software and staff has had extensive training in its use and operation. The cost for this service varies depending on the scope of the project.
Custom Mapping
Custom maps are developed for local governments, private firms, and individuals. Our extensive data set means we can create a multitude of maps for any of your needs. We now also have Digital Ortho Quarter Quads (digital aerial photographs) which can be used to enhance our mapping projects. Typical maps include zoning, parcel, land use, land cover, and location maps. The cost for custom maps is based on the scope of the project.
Map Sales
The RDC maintains an inventory of maps for sale to the public including:
- U.S.G.S. 1:24,000 topographic maps
- U.S.G.S. 1:100,000 topographic maps
- U.S.G.S. 1:250,000 topographic maps
- U.S.G.S. 1:1,00,000 Georgia State map
- D.O.T. County Highway maps
We also have a large format copier that will copy up to a 36 x 48 size document.
Technical Assistance
The GIS staff offers technical assistance to local governments in setting-up, operating, and upgrading GIS systems. Our knowledgeable staff can provide useful information on methods of data capture and data integration. This can include site visits or telephone assistance but should not take the place of specific software technical support. Feel free to give us a call and ask how GIS can make your organization better!
