The NEGRDC participates in the state's Regional Preservation Planner Program administered by Georgia's Historic Preservation Division of the Dept. of Natural Resources. Since 1977, the Program has provided technical assistance to local governments, organizations, and individuals involved in historic-preservation projects. In many instances, projects seek to preserve a historic building or adapt it for a new, contemporary use. Historic Preservation, as a community-planning tool, seeks to revitalize communities while retaining their traditional character.
